Pond Tour revisited

Our 27th Annual Pond Tour was June 23rd and 24th and we had great weather for this year’s tour. Aside from a rain cloud that rolled through quickly Sunday afternoon it was in the mid-80’s and partly cloudy most of the weekend. There were a lot of great water features, information, and stories shared with the public.

February meeting notes

Bob S. presented on the state of Ward-Meade and the Tulips at Twilight event. With last year’s revenue from the event a new irrigation system was funded and has been partially installed and should be completed by March.

Other jobs have come up and the contractor’s work has not been continuous, and there have been issues with their work. There was a break in the line that flooded the garden with chlorinated water. They left a trench through a berm designed to protect the ponds from run-off water the ponds were flooded with mud and chlorine killing the fish and turning the water gray and it doesn’t seem to be settling.

Pond Cleaning

The weather will be great on Saturday May the 6th, so the pond cleaning at Ward-Meade is on beginning at 9am. Come if you want to work, or just watch and see how to clean out a pond.

Meeting Reminder

Just a reminder: We had our regular meeting early this month to do final planning for the Garden Show so our next meeting will be March 15th at 7pm at Ward-Meade with Deb from Water's Edge as our speaker.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Garden Show- we had a great time! We had five people offer to be hosts for the pond tour (and got a few more leads), three let us know they were preparing to put in ponds and countless people stopped to discuss water features. We had been preparing and pulling stuff together for a couple months, and are so thankful to Water's Edge for providing the bubbler, and to Skinner's for providing plants for the booth. It all got assembled in a couple days, and had the entire thing packed up and out of the Expocentre in 90 minutes.  It was an excellent start to our year! Thanks to everyone who helped out and came by.
