Pond Tour revisited
Ward-Meade was looking its best and was quite busy on tour day. Ron & Rhonda’s crystal-clear water was a marvel and it especially shined during the night tour with them in-fall lighting. After seeing Cheryl & Dave’s woodland garden, I’m convinced I need to plant a couple more trees. I’m still in awe of the size of Ken & Karen’s twenty- year-old koi. I’m still not sure if Bob & Cheryl’s garden is real or some sort of enchanted fairyland where the woodland creatures come up from the creek to sing and pull weeds... and yes, baby raccoons were present for the tour. Rees & Kathy showed how you could combine a water garden with an outdoor living space and Brad & Amy surprised us by putting in a new pond the week before the tour! Thank you to all our hosts.
I’m happy to report that our numbers were very good this year. We had 232 people purchase tickets this year which is up 27 from last year. Our expenses for carrying out the tour was $283.46, down $60 from last year, and our advertising revenue was $1300, up $560 from last year making our net profit $2408.54, an increase of $764.74! I was very pleased with this considering the previous year was only up by 97 cents. Now we can begin to plan what project we can put this money toward.
