City and county dignitaries and countless volunteers from Shawnee County garden clubs met at Lake Shawnee Thursday, September 17, for a dedication honoring Jerold Binkley. Following several speeches from dignitaries, City Ambassadors unveiled a bronze statue titled "I'm so Happy." The title came from a quote from Jerold's then three year old granddaughter who said "I'm so happy," when she first saw the Ted Ensley Gardens at Lake Shawnee nine years ago. The statue features two children - a girl and a boy - crouched on the ground, watching a family of rabbits.

TAWGS is an active and friendly club for people who are interested in the study and enjoyment of water gardens. Monthly meetings provide a variety of activities including lectures and pond tours as well as an opportunity to meet other pond enthusiasts.

Formed in the Summer of 1998, TAWGS aims to encourage a greater appreciation and interest in water gardening, aquatic plants and animals. TAWGS goals also include disseminating information about water gardening and to stimulate the study and culture of water gardens.
Annual membership to TAWGS is $15 for individuals or $20 for families.

On Saturday morning, October 18, about 12 TAWGS members again showed their enthusiasm for water gardening by volunteering at Ward Meade Park to finish work on the pondless waterfall, re-build the fountain area and clean and net Anna‟s Pond.
